Revelers will not be able to ring in the lunar New Year in the usual way because of the fresh coronavirus outbreak in Vietnam. Instead they will stay at home and watch the high altitude firework display which is scheduled to be live broadcast on Vietnam Television.
The Hanoi municipal administration said it has worked out a plan for organizing the firework display in one location amidst tight epidemic preventive measures.
The Capital Military Command and relevant agencies have been assigned to ensure safety and security for the location and adjacent areas in the context of the coronavirus evolving in a complex manner.
The municipal administration earlier decided to cancel firework displays on lunar New Year’s Eve at 30 localities throughout the capital in order to focus on the fight against COVID-19.
A firework display is the most awaited event on lunar New Year’s Eve for revelers in big cities, including Hanoi. Thousands of revelers take to the streets to welcome in the lunar New Year when fireworks light up the sky.
Due to the emergence of the virus recently, COVID-19 many localities, including Ho Chi Minh City, have decided to cancel the plan.
