Among the entries, 28 of the plays are by artists from Vietnam. In addition to the shows by domestic performers, plays by artists from foreign countries have also been selected to take part in the festival, which is being co-organised by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association and the Performing Art Bureau, under Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
According to the event’s organising board, seven plays by foreign art troupes from Hungary, Israel, India, Singapore, China, the Republic of Korea, and Greece have so far confirmed their attendance at the festival.
Vietnamese artists will have the chance to showcase their plays during the festival.
The event will provide an opportunity for both domestic and international talent to exchange experience whilst also providing several culturally rich shows for audiences, according to People’s Artist Le Tien Tho, Chairman of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association during a press conference held in Hanoi on September 30.
The opening ceremony will be held at the Hanoi Opera House at 8 pm on October 4. Aside from official performances as part of the festival, workshops on plays and experimental theatre from Vietnam and abroad will be planned throughout the event.
