Hanoi slow in burying cables underground

by VTV416 November 2017 Last updated at 07:00 AM

VTV.vn - Hanoi has been aiming to become a wireless city through burying underground power, telecommunication and street light cables along its streets.

However, the city's efforts are proving much slower than planned. In 2017, Hanoi planned to bury underground cables in more than 100 streets but proposals for half of these streets had not been approved by the end of October.

This was because some enterprises could not complete their documents and allocate enough funds to bury the cables. In addition, power, telecommunication and street light companies have not actively cooperated with each other in implementing the project, leading to prolonged construction times.

In 2016 and early 2017, Hanoi approved plans to bury cables in 71 streets but only 16 streets saw construction work completed.
