He made the request on March 26 at a meeting with the relevant ministries, agencies and the Hanoi authorities on key transport projects in the capital city.
Known as Line 2, the 13.5 kilometre rail line, invested by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and constructed by China Railway Sixth Group Co Ltd, has seen it completion deadline delayed several times.
According to the MOT, a number of issues concerning payment, settlement and especially compliance with the State Audit’s conclusion, have affected the project’s progress, on which the two sides have yet to reach a consensus.
At the same time, the coronavirus outbreak is expected to slow the trial run and handover progress of the project, the ministry added.
The Hanoi Party chief suggested the establishment of a working team led by a MOT Deputy Minister with members from the relevant parties in order to accelerate the approval, handover and operation of the project.
