VTV.vn - A forum on development of tourism linkage between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the extended North-Central region was held in Vinh City, in the central province of Nghe An, on July 1.

The forum, themed “Convergence of Elites – Enhanced Destination Experience”, featured the participation of more than 500 delegates, including leaders from the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Nghe An, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh and Quang Tri, as well as representatives from travel groups and corporations, airlines, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) and several foreign organisations.

Speaking at the forum, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Phan Thi Thang said the tourism linkage among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and North-Central provinces is expected to be one of key measures to increase the number of tourists and tourism revenue and position the local tourism brand in the near future.

The linkage will create a new resilience for the localities, thereby contributing to improving their competitiveness and tourism brands as well as promoting Vietnamese tourism in the international tourism market.

Tourism linkage agreements with four singed contents are core issues of tourism development including state management, human resource development, tourism development and promotion.

For his part, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his hope that there will be many new cooperation agreements, marking a development step in the linkage among the provinces and cities and state management agencies, especially effective cooperation from tourism associations and enterprises of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and extended North-Central localities.

The forum will create a great impetus and bring effective and sustainable efficiency for the tourism sector, thus making great contributions to the socio-economic development of the localities in particular and the country in general, he noted.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet emphasised that the localities should research and build a common image to promote the region's identity and brand as well as develop mechanisms and policies that are suitable to the development towards strengthening the capacity of the apparatus and promotion activities and enhancing linkages among the localities in the region.

It is essential to boost the linkages in scientific and technological application among the provinces and cities, added the Deputy Minister.

At the forum, a cooperation agreement on development of tourism linkage was signed among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the extended North-Central region for 2022-2025 period along with a plan to carry out the linkage activities during the 2022-2023 period.
