Deputy PM Dam, who is also head of the National Steering Committee on Search and Repatriation of Remains of Fallen Soldiers (Steering Committee 515), laid wreaths and offered incense at Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery, the burial place of nearly 10,000 fallen soldiers, militias and volunteers during the resistance against the US.
The government official also visited and presented gifts to the martyrs’ remains search and collection team of Division 968 of Military Region 4, who are carrying out the task of searching and gathering remains of martyrs in Tan Xa Village, Ba Long Commune, Dakrong District. The team has found 45 sets of martyr remains in this area since 2021.
According to Quang Tri Province, the remains of 72 martyrs have been found and reburied by the province in the 2021-2022 dry season, including 12 remains of Vietnamese experts and volunteers in Laos.
The Deputy PM also paid tribute to martyrs at the Ba Long War Zone relic site in Ba Long Commune and visited medical workers at Hai Lang District Medical Centre.
