Hanoi celebrates 20 years of winning title "City for peace"

This morning about 10,000 people joined a walk for peace. A street festival was organized to create a picture of cultural diversity and to promote Hanoi as a destination for peace, friendship, and cooperation.

A festival featuring various art and culture activities will be held from July 13-14 such as music nights themed "I love Hanoi" and "Lightening peace" and an introduction to UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage such as "bai choi" art singing in the central region and "nha nhac" (Hue royal court music).

Visitors will have a chance to enjoy dances and circus performances.

In particular, many Hanoi traditional foods will be also introduced to visitors at the Hanoi Children’s Palace from July 13-14.

Twenty years ago, Hanoi was honoured by the UNESCO with the title during a ceremony held in La Paz, the capital city of Bolivia. So far, Hanoi has still been the only capital in Asia-Pacific to receive the recognition.
