VTV.vn - The Republic of Korea has agreed to fund KRW 5 billion (roughly US$4.5 million) for developing agriculture in Vietnam’s Red River Delta.

The agreement was reached under an ODA project on ‘Improving the rice value chain in Red River Delta, Vietnam’, which was signed between the Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC) in Hanoi on July 12.

Under the project, the RoK will also provide technical support for the building and trial operation of the Agricultural Training Centre in Thai Binh province, and offer on-the-job training for farmers and managers as well as officers working in agricultural development.

Speaking at the event, MARD Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh noted with pleasure that Vietnam and RoK have bolstered comprehensive cooperation in many fields, including agriculture.

RoK’s experience will help Vietnam in applying agricultural technologies for climate change mitigation, particularly when Vietnam is considered, to be among one of the most affected countries by global climate change.

Vietnam also wants to learn from RoK’s experience in building rural areas and making policies on agricultural development, targeting a high-tech agriculture with high-quality products.
