VTV.vn - Ha Nam province maintains an area of over 2,000 hectares of specialised land and a part of high-grade two-crop rice land converted to produce vegetables, tubers and fruits of all kinds.

Localities have formed concentrated production areas in the direction of safety, VietGAP, organic and linked production and consumption of vegetables, tubers and fruits under contracts, helping to increase the value and profit of the cultivated area.

Ha Vy Agricultural Cooperative (Nhan Chinh Commune, Ly Nhan District) is a production area that meets VietGAP standards and has been maintained stably for nearly 10 years. Many types of seasonal vegetables, tubers and fruits are concentratedly produced by the cooperative, such as green onions, green beans, cauliflower, and cabbage.

All products are sold under contracts with Bao An Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative (Vinh Tru town) to supply to Win Mart, Go! Supermarket systems, collective kitchens, and safe agricultural product stores.

Thanks to that, the selling price of vegetables, tubers, and fruits in the production area is always stable compared to the market. In 2024, for green onion products alone, the revenue of local growers for purchasing units reached nearly 1 billion VND.

Bao An Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative has signed contracts to sell agricultural products with several cooperatives in the region, such as Nhan Nghia, Nhan Binh (Ly Nhan District) and Hung Cong, Binh Nghia (Binh Luc District), with a total area of about 30 hectares.

The cooperative is responsible for purchasing agricultural products seasonally, the purchase price is based on the time of harvest and is 5-10% higher than the free market price (depending on product quality).

Producers must strictly adhere to the production process according to safety standards, VietGAP, ensuring that products are qualified to be brought to supermarkets and clean agricultural product stores. Products are inspected and periodically sampled for key quality indicators.

Tran Ngoc Hieu, Director of Bao An Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, said, that on average, each day, the cooperative purchases more than 4,000 kg of agricultural products from signed cooperatives.

Producing vegetables, tubers, and fruits under joint contracts is being applied in many vegetable-growing areas in Ha Nam Province.

Lien Hiep Safe Agricultural Products Cooperative (Thi Son, Kim Bang) produces and supplies products under contract on more than 4 hectares. Of which, 1 hectare grows potatoes and vegetables under contract with PepsiCo Vietnam Foods Company Limited as raw materials for processing. The remaining area grows vegetables, tubers, and fruits to supply kitchens and safe agricultural product stores in the province.

Thanks to the signed contract, the cooperative has proactively developed a suitable production plan to ensure the supply of quality products. Pham Hoang Hiep, Director of Lien Hiep Safe Agricultural Products Cooperative, shared that contract production helps stabilise the output market for the products. Vegetable and root crops are arranged to be planted in overlapping batches so that they can be harvested and supplied throughout the long period of the season.

However, the connection of production and consumption of products of cooperatives in Ha Nam still faces many difficulties due to the small production scale, and limited handicraft and agricultural products, making it difficult to meet large orders.

Households, cooperatives, and agricultural production facilities still mainly produce according to tradition, and many types of agricultural products have not met market requirements.

Phu Van Agricultural Service Cooperative, Phu Ly City, has over 250 hectares of cultivation, with 90 hectares for growing flowers and ornamental plants and more than 70 for growing vegetables, fruits and medicinal herbs.

The locality has actively participated in many trade promotion activities, connecting product consumption, but product consumption still depends on traditional markets.

Director Lai Van Nam said that the cooperative hopes to continue to receive attention and create favourable conditions to support the connection of product consumption through accessing e-commerce platforms and developing applications to connect supply and demand to reduce intermediaries and increase profits for cooperative members.

To improve the effectiveness of trade promotion and connect supply and demand, Director of the Ha Nam Province Cooperative Union Do Xuan Truong shared that the cooperatives need to build a new model associated with digital transformation and pay attention to building and developing product brands, saying no to fake goods, poor quality goods, and intellectual property violations.

In the coming time, the Ha Nam Province Cooperative Union will continue to coordinate with departments and branches to survey and grasp market demand, develop effective production and business plans and connect and build product consumption links between cooperatives and enterprises, and links between cooperatives with each other, ensuring sustainable production.

The Ha Nam Provincial Cooperative Union will select, invite and support enterprises producing and trading for local products and goods with strengths to participate in trade promotion in provinces and cities across the country.
