On behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has signed a decision approving the task of preparing Lao Cai Province's plans for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
It sets to turn the province, which is home to the well-known tourist destination of Sapa, into Vietnam’s key locale on tourism, services, border gates, metallurgical industry and green agricultural production, with a modern and synchronous socio-economic infrastructure system.
It is also expected to develop into a centre for researching, preserving and promoting the national identity with the beauty of the cultures of the ethnic groups of the Northwest.
The decision requires the through analysing and evaluating on the province's advantages, opportunities, difficulties, challenges and priorities in the planning period, focusing on analysing and forecasting factors affecting the development of the province, as well as determining the position and role of Lao Cai in the region and the whole country.
It also asks for identifying development options in the planning period and forecasting the socio-economic development position of Lao Cai in 2025, 2030 and 2050, with key tasks to be solved to make breakthroughs for the province’s development during the set planning period.
