Marking the 80th anniversaries of the August Revolution (19 August 1945 – 19 August 2025) and Vietnam’s National Day (2 September 1945 – 2 September 2025), Vietnam Television will present a special political-artistic broadcast titled Golden Opportunity. Spanning 100 minutes, the program recreates the nation’s heroic moments and allows viewers to connect with President Ho Chi Minh’s spirit, which is that “opportunity must be created by people”, while continuing the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
Audiences will meet many distinguished historical witnesses who, as living storytellers, will share authentic and emotional recollections. Among them are Nguyen Thi Binh, known as the “rose dancing among wolves”, Colonel and Hero Tu Cang, and Colonel-composer Doan Nho.
A highlight of Golden Opportunity lies in how the production team employs modern stage technology to “breathe life” into historic landmarks. Instead of static backdrops, sites such as the Hanoi Flag Tower, Ngo Mon Square in Hue, and Nha Rong Wharf in Ho Chi Minh City will become living parts of the narrative.
Stage design at the three live broadcast locations in Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City
Editor Phan Tien Dung from the Department of Culture and Entertainment at VTV shared that, for the first time, a multi-dimensional stage was constructed at the live broadcast location in the capital, right at the Hanoi Flag Tower. An extensive LED screen system gave the ancient landmark a new and vibrant appearance. In Hue, 3D mapping technology was used to create a spectacular effect, fusing between centuries-old heritage with contemporary elements and making the audience feel as though the past and present were seamlessly blending before their eyes. Meanwhile, at Nha Rong Wharf in Ho Chi Minh City, the interplay between the solemnity of the historical site and the youthful, dynamic spirit of the city, named after Uncle Ho, creates a unique visual experience full of local character.
Music and Art: Touching Every Soul
Beyond staging, Golden Opportunity moves audiences through music and artistic performances. Music will serve as the connective thread of emotion across the entire program.
The broadcast will open with an elaborately produced theme music video featuring images of the nation’s 80-year journey, evoking a sense of pride in all Vietnamese people. Building on this, celebrated artists such as My Linh, Dang Duong and Trong Tan will perform timeless revolutionary songs that once lit the path for generations, alongside young talents.
Highlights include Ha Anh Tuan performing a newly composed meaningful song filled, and poet Nguyen Khoa Diem reciting his celebrated poem, “The Country”. In addition, Luu Quang Vu’s iconic play I and We will return to the stage after 40 years with a poignant excerpt that carries a message that resonates with life today.
Through meticulously crafted reenactment footage, the program will also recreate the fervent atmosphere of the General Uprising, helping audiences visualize the great strength of the Vietnamese people as they seized their historic moment and ushered in an era of independence, freedom, and socialism. As the production team shared, Golden Opportunity is not only a commemorative broadcast but also an inspiring history lesson that reminds today’s generation of both the opportunities and the responsibilities involved in building the nation in a new era.
The Golden Opportunity will air live at 20:10 on August 22, 2025, on VTV1. Stay tuned!
