Global COVID-19 cases surpass 8 million

After only one week, the number of new Covid-19 cases has increased by one million. The number of new coronavirus infections now is 12 times higher than it was in the first 3 months of the outbreak. As of April 3, the world recorded 1 million people infected with the coronavirus.

Since then, the number of Covid-19 cases has skyrocketed. In April and May, the world recorded 5 million Covid-19 patients. Worldwide, the average number of daily new confirmed cases in June has settled at a higher level than in May. In the first two weeks of June, the number of new cases has reached 2 million.
