Gifts delivered to poor people and policy beneficiaries ahead of Tet

VTV.vn - Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited and present gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor households and needy students in Duc Hoa District in the southern Long An Province on January 22, on the occasion of the upcoming Tet.

She asked local authorities to continue implementing socio-economic development measures while paying more attention to social welfare and care for policy beneficiary families and poor households in the province.

On the occasion, she presented more than 800 gift packages to poor households, workers and students in difficult circumstances.

The same day, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien visited and delivered 400 Tet gifts to poor households in Van Chan District, Yen Bai Province.

He expressed his hope that the local authorities will pay greater attention to caring for the people during Tet festival, particularly disadvantaged and poor families.

During his stay in Yen Bai, the NA Vice Chairman gifted 100 presents worth VND115 million in total to members of trade unions and poor workers in the province.

Also on January 22, a delegation from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs led by Minister Dao Ngoc Dung paid pre-Tet visits to poor households, national contributors, and armed forces in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai.

They presented 120 gift packages, each comprising daily necessaries and VND 1 million (US$43.50) in cash, to beneficiaries in Trinh Tuong Commune, Bat Xat District.

In addition, the delegation allocated 30 gift packages for the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to present to national contributors in the districts of Bao Yen and Bao Thang and Lao Cai City.

The ministry presented VND 100 million to the provincial fund for natural disaster prevention and control.

The Da Nang city's trade union held a ceremony on January 23 to present free bus tickets were to 3,000 workers who could not afford the fare back to their hometown for Tet. More than 3,300 gifts worth VND 3.3 billion were also given to local workers at the ceremony.

Hundreds of gifts were also delivered to poor workers and policy beneficiaries in the provinces of Thai Binh and Nam Dinh yesterday, aiming to help them celebrate a warm and happy Tet.
