This morning, Deputy Prime Minister and representatives of the Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam, the government office, the central mass mobilisation commission, and relevant ministries and sectors carried out a field trip to inspect preparations for the ceremony. Until now, 112 countries and territories, 500 international delegations and a number of national leaders have confirmed attendance.
Compared to the two previous Vesak celebrations, the number of international delegates is much higher. The government office has assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to welcome leaders and foreign delegates, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to take delegates to landscapes and heritage sites of Vietnam, and the Ministry of Public Security to ensure safety for the entire event.
Vesak 2019 will take place from 10th to 15th of May, and expects to welcome 1,600 international delegates and 20,000 Buddhist monks.
