Although the second quarter is the harvest time of most Southern fruits, Vietnam’s export of vegetables and fruits continued to decline over the last week of April to the beginning of May, according to the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Processing Association.

In addition to the high supply, the price decrease is also caused by China as this is the main import market of Vietnamese fruits continues to implement the Zero Covid policy, making it difficult to export to this key market. Also, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in higher transportation costs due to changing routes.

Vietnam exported more than 1.1 billion USD worth of fruits in the first four months of this year, down by more than 15% year on year. China remains the largest market with more than 53% market share, followed by the US, South Korea, and Japan.
