Free coaches offered to bring disadvantaged workers back home to enjoy Tet

VTV.vn - The Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Holding Corporation (Vinacomin) arranged more than 100 coaches to take 5,000 workers home on February 1 for the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

Speaking at the sending off ceremony, Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Organisation, Pham Minh Chinh, praised contribution of the Vinacomin for the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh as well as for the whole country. The group has made efforts to care for the lives of thousands of workers, particularly by supporting them with Tet gifts and arranging free coaches to send them home to celebrate Tet with their families.

The corporation will also send coaches to bring the workers back to work at the end of the holiday. For workers who are not on the routes of free coaches, they are being supported with an allowance to cover their tickets at a rate ofVND300,000-500,000.

The amount of funding supported by the group and its member units for workers during Tet is totaling at over VND15 billion.

The same day at the North Thang Long Industrial Park, the Hanoi Federation of Labour also hired 36 coaches to carry 1,600 disadvantaged workers to their homes in central Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces to welcome Tet. The free-of-charge coach programme has been organised for 11 consecutive years running.

During Tet 2019, the city’s Trade Union spent more than VND31 billion to take care of workers in difficult circumstances. In particular, the union have provided over 80,00 bus tickets and 65,000 Tet gifts to disadvantaged workers.

Also on Friday, inspecting Hanoi Railway Station and Giap Bat Coach Station, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung asked the relevant transport enterprises and stations to provide adequate vehicles to take people back home to celebrate Tet.
