As part of efforts improve the livelihoods of minor ethnicities living near the Laos border, both sides agreed to focus on a better implementation of agreement between the two governments to enhance co-operation between two countries on border stability and comprehensive development, settle immigrant issues, enhance stability in border areas, foster new rural areas, and carry out poverty reduction. More specifically, both sides agreed on the need to focus on improving the value of exports and jointly implement stronger measures to quell drug trafficking across the border. The Lao proposals will be submitted to the Vietnamese government in the coming time.
