This is the fourth consecutive month where Vietnam welcomed more than a million foreign arrivals. The General Statistics Office said the total number of foreign arrivals in 2017 so far had reached 4.28 million - an impressive 30.3% surge over the same period last year. International visitors coming by air and cruises increased significantly.
During the first 4 months of 2017, tourists coming from Asia increased 35.3% over last year's same period, while tourists from Europe jumped 25.5% year-on-year. Vietnam looks to developing tourism as a key sector by 2020, with the goal of attracting 17 to 20 million international visitors.
