Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, Nguyen Thanh Hai, acknowledged Lang Son province's achievements in ensuring food safety and requested the province to continue researching and issuing a resolution on food safety. He urged local authorities to conduct a comprehensive review of the fresh food supply chain; to invest in human resources and other resources to ensure food safety and quality, especially in border areas; to strengthen the role of social oversight in food safety; and to improve the capacity for food testing and traceability. The practical issues raised by representatives of the province's specialized agencies serve as important practical grounds for the Committee on Science, Technology and Environment to report to the National Assembly Standing Committee for review and amendment of the Food Safety Law, creating a transparent legal framework that prioritizes public health.

During the program, members of the working group exchanged and discussed several issues related to the implementation of the Food Safety Law in the area; public awareness campaigns on ensuring food safety; inspection and supervision at border gates, schools, markets, and food businesses; testing and post-inspection of goods and food circulating in the market, etc.

According to a report by the People's Committee of Lang Son province, in recent years, the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and Hygiene has directed media agencies to coordinate with state management agencies on food safety to focus on disseminating information and communicating content on preventing and combating food poisoning to change the behavior of at-risk groups. At the same time, the Provincial Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and Hygiene has strengthened inspection and supervision to detect and provide early warnings of risks and warnings on preventing and combating food poisoning for the community; and has issued directives and guidelines to agencies and units on the work of preventing and combating food poisoning and foodborne diseases... As a result, no food poisoning incidents occurred in the province in 2024 and 2025.


The province currently has 8,546 food establishments; of which 97.6% are eligible for food safety certification. Supply chain management is emphasized, with 19 livestock farms and 1,200 hectares of cultivated land applying safe production processes.

In 2024-2025, authorities inspected 13,401 establishments, discovering 3,380 violations, and imposing fines on 3,127 establishments totaling over 10.6 billion VND; more than 68,000 unsafe food products were confiscated and destroyed. The provincial police discovered and handled 69 violations; including initiating legal proceedings in 3 cases involving 4 defendants related to food safety.

On the morning of the same day (April 14th), the working group split into four teams to conduct on-site surveys at various locations throughout the province, including: Huu Nghi, Tan Thanh, Chi Ma, and Coc Nam border gates; local markets, supermarkets, schools, and food businesses... in order to assess compliance with food safety regulations at each stage of the supply chain.
