First technological line invented to transfer waste to electricity
VTV.vn - Vietnamese engineers have successfully invented a technological line to transfer waste to electricity that was recognised by Vinacontrol and registered for its copyright. It is expected to provide a new solution for pollution caused by waste

In Đức Hòa District, Long An Province, indiscriminate littering and poor waste treatment have affected the aesthetics of the area and made the pollution situation worse.

With the desire to help reduce pollution, after 30 years of research, engineers from H-T Giang San Company have successfully created a technological line to transfer waste to electricity.

"The operation principle of this line is the process of putting waste into a combustor, piping gas through a filtering system to a condenser and then to a compression system exposed to hydrogen, creating Dimethoxymethane or DME. DME can be used to run an electricity generator." - Nguyen Thanh Cong, Mechanical foreman, H-T Giang San Company.

With this technology, about 10 kilogrammes of waste can produce 1 kilowatt per hour. The treatment system does not require using water and does not create toxic fumes. These are also the advantages of this system over waste incinerators in Europe.

"This technology will be more useful, while the amount of waste has been rising due to the increasing population. The treatment system can be flexibly changed to be suitable for each area." - Huynh Van Hoa, Chairman, Board of Directors, H-T Giang San Company.

Nearly 13 million tonnes of municipal solid waste are disposed every year in Vietnam. The figure is forecasted to increase to 22 million tonnes by 2020.Therefore, the engineers hope that this new technology will help reduce pollution and in the near future can be developed to produce gas for household use.
