The Vietnam Robot Creativity Contest - Robocon Vietnam 2024 has attracted the participation of 64 teams representing 23 universities, colleges, and technical schools nationwide.
This year, instead of round robin matches in the regional qualifiers as in previous seasons, the selection of 32 teams to advance to the final round was based on the Robocon Vietnam 2024 Organizing Committee's evaluation of the teams' robot activities in the preliminary round.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the final round, Dinh Dac Vinh - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television and Head of the Organizing Committee of Robocon Vietnam 2024 - said: "From its first edition in 2002 until now, Robocon has gradually become a playground for creativity and technology for many generations of students nationwide. Each season of Robocon always leaves a deep impression, with a youthful and vibrant atmosphere, full of enthusiasm, and it's an exciting experience for both the Organizing Committee and the participating teams. Vietnam Television always hopes that this competition will become more professional, fair, and well-organized, with the level of competition constantly improving, showcasing the technical , engineering, and automation skills of young people nationwide".
According to Dinh Dac Vinh, the theme of this year's competition "Harvest Season", is inspired by the activity of rice cultivation in terraced fields - a distinctive cultural feature of Vietnam. The robots will have tasks such as planting rice, harvesting rice, and transporting rice to the warehouse, requiring intelligence, talent, accuracy, and flexibility from the robots.
"This is a test highly valued by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union with many new elements and challenges for students. To be able to demonstrate technology within the 3-minute competition time, the Organizing Committee ensures that the students have worked tirelessly day and night for many months to research, understand solutions, and build robots, overcoming numerous difficulties regarding the field, manufacturing conditions. We highly appreciate and thank you for participating in this year's Robocon to make it a vibrant season like all the previous ones", Dinh Dac Vinh added.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Dinh Dac Vinh wished all participating teams to compete to the best of their abilities, achieve impressive victories, and reap many "Golden Harvest" victories to be the two most outstanding and deserving representatives to attend ABU Robocon 2024 in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province in August.
Representing the 32 participating teams in the final round, Ho Duc Tin from the Central Trade College read out his determination to complete before entering the intense matches.
At the event, Dinh Dac Vinh, Deputy General Director of VTV, and . Le Hai Anh, Head of the Scientific and Educational Program Department , awarded certificates of participation in the final round of Robocon Vietnam 2024 to the 32 participating teams.
