The festival is open to films that were granted public performance licenses dated from September 1, 2013 to October 10, 2015. Cinematic works will compete in several categories including feature films,video films, documentaries, scientific films and animated films.
The opening and closing ceremonies, scheduled to take place at 8 pm on December 1 and 5 at Hoa Binh theatre, respectively, will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television and Ho Chi Minh City Television stations.
Individual awards honouring the best director, best scriptwriter, best cameraman, best actor and actress, best musician and best directorof photography will be announced at the festival.
People’s choice awards, based on votes casted by audience members for their most favourite film, will also be announced.
Films competing at the festival will be screened at cinemas in Ho Chi Minh City. Each cinemagoer can obtain a maximum of two free tickets at the cinema box-office one or two days before the films show times.
Other activities will be organised on the sidelines of the event, including an exhibition on Vietnamese cinematography, two workshops seeking measures to develop Vietnamese cinematography, and exchanges linking the audiences with film producers.
The biennial film festival aims to honour the outstanding cinematographic works imbued with national identity, humanity and creativity as well as artists that have made remarkable achievements in the field over the past two years.
