The Tran Temple's ceremony stems from one of the Tran Dynasty's ancient customs at Thai Mieu Temple.
People pray for the country's peace and prosperity and motivate people to resume work with enthusiasm after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. The event offered an opportunity for people to pay tribute to their ancestors and remember how the Tran dynasty stopped three Mongol invasions in the 13th century.
The event also features a range of traditional cultural activities and folk games such as a lion and dragon dance, cheo and chau van singing, human chess, and wrestling.
