VTV.vn - An event entitled "Sports day and communication on gender equality and reproductive health" was held on October 18 by Plan International Vietnam in collaboration with Hanoi’s education department and women’s union.

The activity came within the framework of the projects "Sport Spaces for Safety and Equality in Hanoi Schools" and "Vietnamese Girl Leadership on Menstrual Hygiene Management", with the participation of 1,000 students and teachers from 36 secondary schools in Ba Vi District.

Through sports and interactive activities, students can enhance their knowledge and skills on promoting gender equality, preventing and responding to gender-based violence, and understanding reproductive health, according to Plan International Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Phung Ngoc Oanh, the head of Ba Vi’s education bureau, said the safe sports spaces project matched the expectations of students and the education sector, thereby receiving enthusiastic response from students, parents and teachers.

The "Sport Spaces for Safety and Equality in Hanoi Schools" project is being implemented at 55 secondary schools in Hanoi’s Ha Dong and Ba Vi districts, with its effect expected to spread to other schools in the capital city and the country.

The “Vietnamese Girl Leadership on Menstrual Hygiene Management” project is being carried out in Hanoi and Quang Binh Province with the goal of helping adolescent girls in urban spaces and ethnic minority communities in remote rural areas to confidently manage their periods and make informed sexual and reproductive health decisions.
