A spring flower festival is taking place just 50 km away from Hanoi, in Dai Lai, Vinh Phuc Province. This is also home to the San Diu ethnic group. At the flower festival, visitors can learn more about this ethnic group's culture and take part in the traditional Tet games of the San Diu people.
With each return of spring, the San Diu people gather to take part in a traditional bamboo dance. And this is the Sooong Cô folk singing tradition to welcome the new season. This type of folk songs are specific to the San Diu people.
At the Spring Flower Festival 2017, traditions of the San Diu Tet are revived. Folk games like bamboo rod balancing, weight-throwing, stilt walking, tug-o-war and a blindfolded ball-hitting game similar to hitting a pinata are played. Visitors enjoy taking part in these games.
Amid the vibrant colors of the flowers of the festival, the Tet celebrations of the San Diu people has added to the overall attraction of the 2017 Spring Flower Festival. The festival will last through out the first lunar month.
