VTV.vn - Vietnam’s Department of Animal Health has denied news reported by several international news agecies that the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) had called on Việt Nam to declare a national emergency over African swine fever.

According to the department, the FAO only calls for a national emergency if the disease is going to have a dramatic impact on the economy, on a high percentage of the population, and on food security in particular, and imminently affects neighboring countries.

Depending on the development of the disease's impact in Vietnam, the government is well placed to control the situation.
