Exhibition highlights national great untiy during Dien Bien Phu Campaign

VTV.vn - With nearly 150 documents, artefacts and photos, the exhibition entitled “Dien Bien Phu – Immortal Spirit” at the Vietnam National Museum of History highlights the national great unity of the army and people of Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) to create the historical Dien Bien Phu Victory.

The exhibition consists of two parts about the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and a conclusion. The first part introduces viewers to information and documents about the plot of French colonialists in their “Navarre Plan”, the CPV’s policy of opening the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, and geographical location of Dien Bien Phu.

For the French colonialists, Dien Bien Phu was a very important strategic area, so it became a very powerful army and air force base in their invasion plot in Southeast Asia.

The second part provides visitors with documents, artifacts, and images that demonstrate the Vietnamese army and people’s spirit of “all for the front line, all for victory” during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. The Museum also feature the contributions, heroic sacrifices, and resilient fighting of the heroes and soldiers on the Dien Bien Phu front.

The conclusion part highlights the Dien Bien Phu spirit through a number of propaganda paintings and images on people’s gratitude to contributors as well as the change of Dien Bien today.

The exhibition contributes to helping people from all walks of life, especially younger generations, understand more about the spiritual strength and contributions of compatriots and soldiers to the historical victory.

On display are also valuable artifacts such as the “Determination to fight, determination to win” flag, a circulating award given by President Ho Chi Minh to the soldiers who fought and won at Dien Bien Phu in 1954; the cart of Bui Tin, a frontline worker serving the campaign; General Vo Nguyen Giap's autobiography on the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s daily orders requiring all officers, soldiers, militia and guerrillas to strictly implement the Geneva Agreement dated April 22, 1954; and the joint declaration on Indochina of Geneva Conference.

The exhibition lasts from April 25 to the end of June.
