The event is jointly held by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Thanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee as an event to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN and 22 years since Vietnam joined the association (1995-2017).

Works on display include more than 300 photos and nearly 60 documentary films and reports featuring the land, people and traditional cultures of ASEAN member countries and ethnic groups in each country as well as the reality of climate change and environmental protection activities in the ASEAN Community.
All of the exhibits are stand-out submissions that were selected to enter the final rounds of photography and documentary film international festivals held in 2010, 2013 and 2015 by the MIC.
The four-day exhibition aims to provide visitors with a closer look and better understanding on the cultural diversity of ASEAN nations and raise public awareness of the establishment of the ASEAN Community.
It also seeks to promote solidarity among people in the bloc, and encourage joint efforts to build a people-centred and people-oriented Community for peace, stability and development in the region.
