Total rainfall since the beginning of summer has fallen below average. Meanwhile, storage capacity in many reservoirs is at only 20-60% of designed capacity. Many small reservoirs are running out of water.
According to the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, the hot weather may last longer in the Central region.
While the mountainous area in the western part of Central Vietnam is likely to experience severe heat, with water flow continuing to decline in rivers, especially in Quang Nam, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen provinces. EVN has suggested that localities located in the downstream areas of reservoirs should make plans to store and use water resources efficiently and economically.
