Election for new UNESCO director-general

VTV.vn - The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation UNESCO started to vote for new Director-General of the organisation for the coming 4 year-term on Monday.

Ambassador Pham Sanh Chau from Vietnam is one of the 9 candidates for the position.

Director-General is the top position of UNESCO, one of the UN's pillars. The candidate that wins at least 30 out of 58 votes will be named the new Director-General of UNESCO and will begin a 4-year tenure on November 15th.
