As of 10pm on November 14, more than 2.1 million Dong Nai residents aged 18 and above have been fully vaccinated, with the full vaccination rate for people above 50 reaching over 95%.
The province, an industrial hub of southern Vietnam, has also administered 112,000 doses of vaccine to children aged 12-17, equivalent to 38% of children in the age group.
Of the more than 4.7 million doses allocated to Dong Nai, the province still has 157,000 doses, which will continue to be administered in November to increase the full vaccination rate.
According to Anh, the achievement of such a high vaccination rate is due to the vaccine allocation priority given to the province by the Ministry of Health, the extensive vaccination programme, and the reduced interval between two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
In recent days, the number of new cases in Dong Nai has been falling rapidly from 743 on November 12 to 668 on November 13, and 559 on November 14.
The province is stepping up its efforts to ensure that 100% of adults are given two doses as well as to establish mobile healthcare stations in all communes.
