Of the figure, VND4 trillion (US$174.5 million) were donated through the VFF’s local chapters and VND700 billion (US$30.5 million) through the VFF’s Central Committee.
On July 2, the VFF President received a donation of VND3 billion from the National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT), a member of the state electricity utility EVN.
EVN had previously donated VND400 billion to the vaccine fund. To date, the power utility has contributed a total of VND450 billion to efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
In addition to donations, EVN has also reduced electricity bills for its customers three times, worth a total of VND13.8 trillion (US$602 million).
On the same day, Chien also received VND100 million donated by the Vietnam Auto Motorcycle and Bicycle Association to the COVID-19 vaccine fund.
* On July 2, Ho Chi Minh City received medical equipment worth VND250 billion (US$11 million) donated by 12 enterprises and individuals to help the city cope with its worst outbreak.
Speaking at the reception ceremony, Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong said 2021 has been the most difficult year for Ho Chi Minh City as social distancing measures were imposed for more than a month and 12,000 enterprises were dissolved or halted their operations in the first six months of the year.
He added that every contribution is meaningful to society and pledged that the city will use the donated resources effectively in the battle against the epidemic.
