As of 9:10 am on August 8, a tael of gold by the Saigon Jewellery Company (SJC) in Ho Chi Minh City was listed at VND41.5 million to buy and VND41.90 million to sell, up VND300,000 from yesterday.
In Hanoi, the buying and selling prices were VND41.55 million and 41.92 million for a tael of SJC gold, respectively.
On August 7, domestic gold prices closed at VND41.2 million to buy and VND41.62 million to sell, up VND450,000 and VND550,000, respectively, compared with the opening prices on the same day.
On the global market, gold prices today hovered around US$1,497 per ounce, up about US$11 compared with the same time yesterday.
Meanwhile the US dollar exchange rate dropped by VND10 after rising to VND23,117 per dollar yesterday.
With the trading band of 3%, Vietcombank listed the US dollar at VND23,160 to buy and VND23,280 to sell, unchanged from a previous session.
