Display of traditional mid-autumn festival lanterns

Starting from September 21st, visitors to the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi have the opportunity to explore the exhibition space showcasing various traditional Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns through the programme “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival”.

Highlights include lanterns shaped like carp turning into dragons, carp-shaped lanterns with moon motifs, and lanterns in the shapes of crab, rabbit, butterfly, shrimp, and drum.

Drawing from valuable sources from foreign researchers, the Thăng Long Imperial Citadel heritage site collaborated with cultural researcher Trịnh Bách and artisans from villages known for producing traditional Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns to revive ancient lantern models.

Those models are made from traditional materials such as dó paper, silk, glassine paper, bamboo, rattan, lacquer, and clay.
