VTV.vn - Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh has signed a directive on enhanced measures to ensure a safe, economical, and joyful Lunar New Year holiday.

In the directive, the Ministry of Health is required to work with other ministries and local authorities to focus the highest efforts on preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The ministry should further step up the vaccination rate and increase inspection of food safety before, during, and after Tet, as the holiday is known in Vietnamese.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is tasked with ensuring the sufficient supply and stabilising the prices of essential goods as well as taking measures to detect and punish those selling counterfeit and contraband goods.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs is required to provide support for poor households, disadvantaged people, and those affected by COVID-19 and natural disasters.

The Ministry of Transport is requested to ensure traffic safety and prevent fare rises during the Tet holiday while the Ministry of Public Security is tasked with cracking down on crime and ensuring social order.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is tasked with instructing local authorities to suspend festivals and firework displays during the holiday.
