In addition to reforesting, transforming hundreds of thousands of hectares of small-timber forest into large timber forests production for materials is also an effective solution. This is the long-term solution to help ensure the availability of materials and reduce pressure from importing.
Vietnam now has over 1 million hectares of planted forests. There is a plan to convert 200,000 hectares in the immediate future to increase the supply of timber for processing.
