Speaking at a teleconference of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on Monday morning (April 6), Dam said, today is exactly one month since Vietnam officially entered stage 2 in the fight against the epidemic.
To date, as the disease has spread worldwide, Vietnam has recorded 241 infections, ranked 96th in the world in the number of cases and among only three countries with more than 200 confirmed cases but no deaths.
It can be affirmed that up until now, Vietnam has been controlling the disease, the senior government official said, adding that the achievements have been a result of the drastic and properly executed directions from the Party and State, as well as the participation of the functional forces and above all the participation of all the people in the spirit of "each citizen is an anti-epidemic soldier".
Thanking the public for their support, Dam, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, noted that many organisations, businesses and individuals have made countless meaningful actions to contribute both material and spiritual strength to the fight against the disease.
As the epidemic is still very complicated and unpredictable, the deputy PM affirmed that Vietnam is determined to stay alert in order to win the fight with a joint effort of all the people.
