VTV.vn - Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, led a working group of the Government to inspect Covid-19 treatment in Bac Lieu and Ca Mau provinces on August 7.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that Bac Lieu province needs to make preventing and controlling the Covid-19 epidemic its top task and responsibility, to protect the health and life of the people.

According to the Deputy PM, for the monitoring of people returning from epidemic areas, localities must closely grasp information on each specific case. The Deputy PM asked the province to review the professional capacity of local groups using foreign biological products and groups using domestic biological products.

On the other hand, all levels of Party committees, authorities, and the whole political system of the province, especially key leaders of the province and localities and units in the province must promote the highest sense of responsibility.

According to the report of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee, from April 27 to now, the whole province of Bac Lieu has had only 57 positive cases. All of these cases were people returning from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces with ongoing epidemic breakouts. The province has cured and discharged 11 cases, and is still treating 46 cases.

In addition, Bac Lieu province has established 72 quarantine checkpoints on all routes into the province. In the province, there are 1,281 people currently in concentrated isolation, with a further 1,450 people isolated at home.

On the same day, after inspecting the treatment situation at Ca Mau General Hospital and the concentrated isolation area of Ca Mau Provincial Political School, a working group from the Government led by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, also worked with the leaders of Ca Mau province on epidemic prevention and control.

According to a report from the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, since April 27, when the fourth outbreak hit the country, to now, Ca Mau province has recorded 41 cases of Covid-19, of which 18 cases have been cured; with 23 currently being treated.

By August 6, the province had injected more than 96,400 doses, 7.22% of its population. Ca Mau is also currently implementing social distancing under Directive 16.

Ca Mau's biggest difficulty today is that the risk of Covid-19 spreading in the community is still high, especially for drivers transporting goods outside the province and people returning from epidemic areas.

Meanwhile, the province's funding, epidemic prevention equipment and medical capacity are still limited. The whole province currently has only 1,400 concentrated isolation beds, 240 treatment beds, 2 PCR testing machines (capacity of 1,200 samples per day) and only about 160 ventilators of all kinds (eight high-function ventilators).

Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam praised the efforts of the Party committees, authorities, mass organisations and people of Ca Mau in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic.

In the coming time, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam suggested Ca Mau continue to strictly implement social distancing measures. It is necessary to control the transport activities of drivers; maintain community health group models; take the initiative in advanceing resources to ensure effective Covid-19 prevention and control, and try to minimize F0 cases. It is necessary to review and establish the “green zone” in its COVID-19 map, and protect this “green zone” to serve production and economic development.
