A street exhibiting local agro-produce has been prepared for the event. These giant squashes are hard to find in Vietnam. But now they’re available in Da Lat City. They are special gifts from Da Lat farmers to tourists visiting the Flower Festival this year. To grow a big squash like this one, Le Huu Phuoc had to import the seeds from abroad and nurtured it for the past 3 months. He also invested in a farm which grows large tomatoes for tourists to visit. These agro-produce are rare and not easy to be found.
Agro-tourism is considered the key activity to help attract more tourists to the festival this year. The organisers had specific plans to promote agro-tourism model very early this year. The agro-tourism model in Ho Xuan Huong Street is one example. More than 10 households have participated in the model. They provide tours to visit strawberry and orchid farms.
The flower festival this year will also engage the local community, and with unique products and careful preparation, Da Lat has underlined its position as Vietnam’s leading agricultural city.
