In his remarks, Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Nho Trung stated that the meeting took place in the context that the COVID-19 outbreak has been affecting the people’s health safety and the city’s socio-economic development.

The council recognises and highly appreciates the efforts made by the municipal authorities, departments and localities in synchronously implementing drastic measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic and ensure the completion of the set socio-economic targets, he said.

Given the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, the municipal People’s Committee submitted a report to the municipal People’s Council stipulating a support regime for the disease prevention and control. The Da Nang People’s Council adopted an additional funding package of VND150 billion (US$6.45 million) and a preventive budget of VND511 billion (US$22 million) to serve the city’s efforts in fighting COVID-19.

The council deputies also discussed and approved a resolution on the five-year land price list (2020-2024) in Da Nang, while commenting on a report and a draft resolution concerning the handling of authority in deciding investment plans for group-C public investment projects, and discussing and making decisions on a number of investment plans for several key facilities of group A, B and C in the city.

At the meeting, the council asked the city to promptly implement programmes to support businesses affected by the COVID-19; review, research and propose the issuance, revision and supplementation of policies towards expanding the number of beneficiary subjects; and research the promulgation of new support policies for businesses concerning land rent in industrial parks and clusters which have been invested in by the city.

In addition, the city should review the impact of the epidemic on local workers, thus taking timely support solutions, especially for non-public teachers and employees in the service and tourism sectors, the council deputies said.
