Czech Republic to boost multi-faceted ties with Vietnam

VTV.vn - Vice State President ​Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh met with Czech President Milos Zeman and leaders of Czech Parliament on Thursday in Prague.

At the meeting with Czech President Milos Zeman, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh affirmed that Vietnam always opens its door to foreign investors, including those from the Czech Republic. The country is now one of Vietnam’s leading trade partners in Central and Eastern Europe with two-way trade valued at 250-300 million USD annually.

The two sides agreed to complete negotiations on and sign an agreement on cultural, educational and training cooperation as soon as possible. Vietnam pledged support for the Czech Republic’s strengthening of its relations with ASEAN, while the European country emphasised it backed stronger EU-Vietnam ties and the early signing of the EU-Vietnam free trade agreement as well as EU’s recognition of Vietnam’s market economy status.

Also during her visit, Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh visited the Vietnamese embassy in the Czech Republic and the Vietnamese community. She encouraged Vietnamese citizens in the country to adapt to changes posed by globalisation. The state leader also asked the embassy staff to further boost trade and investment between the two nation, as well as protection for Vietnamese citizens./.
