Credit measures devised to support clients affected by saltwater intrusion

VTV.vn - The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held ateleconference in Hanoi on March 23 to assess the situation of damage and difficulties caused by drought and saltwater intrusion in five provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

Delegates at the meeting also discussed credit solutions to support affected people and businesses in the region.

In addition, in response to the call to support needy patients by the Prime Minister and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the SBV has mobilised officials, trade union members and employees to provide each province with VND3 billion.

At the meeting, participating institutions also pointed out some difficulties in providing support for clients of this group and suggested measures for increasing assistance.

SBV Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu asked credit organisations to continue to press on with the work. He also added that the central bank is working with relevant agencies to facilitate people and businesses in dealing with damage caused by saltwater intrusion.
