Currently, localities are earmarking 21 million doses of vaccines for now until the end of the year, a volume much lower than required to treat all those who have not been vaccinated yet.
This leads to difficulties in forecasting and storing vaccines. In order to speed up vaccination, the Ministry of Health recommends acceleration of basic dose injections for children 5-11 years old during August and September and that booster shots for 12-17 year olds be completed in September as soon as children return to school.
Regarding vaccine supplies, it is expected that in September, Vietnam will receive 7.8 million doses of vaccines for people aged 12 years and older and 0.6 million doses of vaccines for children aged 5 to under 12 years old under the Covax and Asean mechanism.
