COVID 19: Number of coronavirus cases reaches 251, two more reported

VTV.vn -As of 6 am on April 8, the Ministry of Health confirmed two more people positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), adding up to 245 cases of infection in Vietnam so far.

Case 250 is a 50-year-old Vietnamese woman residing in Me Linh district of Hanoi. The patient is a neighbor and had close contact with patient 243. On April 7, her test result was confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 and she is currently is treated and in quarantine at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases No2 in Dong Anh district of Hanoi.

Case 251 is a 64 year-old Vietnamese man living in Binh Nghia, Binh Luc, Ha Nam province. On April 6, the patient was sampled for testing which later showed a positive result for the coronavirus. He is receiving treatment and undergoing isolation at Ha Nam General Hospital. This case is under further investigation to identify his source of infection.

According to a report updated by the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control at 6:30 pm on 7 April, 5 patients are still relying on oxygen machines for breathing.

Among the 251 COVID-19 cases recorded so far in the country, 122 have been released from hospital after making a complete recovery. Of the remaining cases, 8 have tested negative once, and 17 have tested negative twice.

Eight recoveries are set to be announced on April 8.
