The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien.
According to the investor - Trung Nam Solar Power JSC, a member of Trung Nam Group, the 204 MW plant will cover around 300 hectares of the Trung Nam wind farm in Bac Phong and Loi Hai communes, Thuan Bac district.
With a total investment of nearly VND5 trillion, the plant is scheduled to be completed in June 2019.
It is expected to produce between 401 and 450 million kWh of electricity per year, boosting the supplying of electricity for NinhThuan province in particular and for the country in general.
Ninh Thuan receives special attention from investors as it has excellent advantages for renewable energy development with an average wind speed of 7-8m/s and 2,800 hours of sunshine every year.
The province aims to become a renewable energy centre in the country with the aim to generate 2,000 MW of solar power by 2020.
