The composer Phan Huynh Dieu (1924 - 2015) was a prominent figure in Vietnamese music. For over half a century, his songs have left a profound impression on generations of listeners, and many of his famous melodies have survived the passage of time. This week's Connecting Melodies program will take time to share with the audience the life and career of composer Phan Huynh Dieu, in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth. The program will feature a special guest appearance by his son, composer Phan Hồng Hà. With vivid memories and stories about his great father, composer Phan Hồng Hà will offer the audience a different perspective on Phan Huynh Dieu.
In particular, the program will feature many famous songs by composer Phan Huynh Dieu, such as "Hành khúc ngày và đêm" (March of Day and Night), "Những ánh sao đêm" (The Night Stars), "Đêm nay anh ở đâu?" (Where Are You Tonight?)... These songs will be performed with new arrangements by well-known artists like People's Artist Dang Duong, singer Vu Thang Loi, and the Thng Long music group. The audience will enjoy these familiar songs with a fresh, new sound.
