This is the second year the food safety campaign has been organised. The highlight of the campaign last year was the prevention of the using of banned substances in livestock. Pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables were down 8% compared to 2015. 50 provinces nationwide have successfully established 400 safe agricultural supply chain models.
This year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will tighten supervision on some products such as fish sauce, shrimp farming products and the usage of antibiotics in agro-products. The ministry will continue to review the use of pesticides.
