Australia and Vietnam have signed a memorandum of understanding on illegal fishing prevention co-operation, focusing on the implementation of a communications campaign about international regulations on fishing to benefit both countries.
Vietnam has carried out a number of communication campaigns in the country to prevent illegal fishing in 28 coastal provinces.
These efforts have achieved certain results, however, due to the high demand and profits of these activities, illegal fishing still persists.
