Conference looks to develop digital economy and digital society

VTV.vn - The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in coordination with the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee held a conference under the theme ‘Promoting digital transformation, developing digital economy and digital society.

Addressing the event, MIC Deputy Minister Pham Duc Long stressed that promoting digital transformation and developing digital economy and the digital society has become an inevitable trend around the world as it has laid the foundation for creating new economic sectors and completely changing the way we live, work, learn and play.

He highly appreciated efforts made by Quang Ninh provincial authorities in effectively implementing information technology application and digital transformation.

For his part, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thanh affirmed that the provincial authorities have paid special attention to science and technology development and application of information technology.

Quang Ninh has actively implemented smart cities and mobilised resources to foster digital transformation in a number of industries and fields which the province holds advantages, including healthcare, education, tourism, transportation and logistics, industrial production, finance, and banking, among others.

Participants at the event shared their views on opportunities and challenges facing technological businesses in embracing digital transformation, developing digital economy and digital society throughout Vietnam.

They also suggested ways for Vietnamese businesses and localities to boost the digital transformation process and to build digital platforms for smart city development.
