Under the programme, the Vietnam Coast Guard High Command in coordination with the Nguoi Lao Dong (The Labourer) newspaper presented gifts and provided free health check-ups to people in seven hamlets in Nghi Quang commune.
Gifts were also presented to 470 households of policy beneficiaries, poor religious devotees and disadvantaged ethnic people in the locality.
In addition, the programme included communication events on popularising the Party and State’s guidelines and policies on ethnic and religious affairs, and the screening of documentary films on mass mobilisation work among ethnic groups and religious communities.
On the occasion, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper presented 2,000 national flags and 20 medicinal packages to local fishermen in the commune.
The programme aims to promote solidarity and understanding between coast guards and local people in Nghi Quang district, thus contributing to maintaining security and social order in the locality.
It is also a practical activity to improve locals' awareness of issues relating to the national seas and islands as well as their knowledge on the 2018 Law on Vietnam Coast Guard, and the Party's and State's guidelines and policies regarding ethnic and religious affairs.
